- Pierre came to Detroit 1739 as a soldier.
- He later settled on the South Coast of Detroit in the parish of Assumption Sandwich.
- The Dufour family lived on the South Shore of Detroit (Sandwich) but religious events were performed at Ste. Anne's church on the North Shore (Detroit). Assumption church was a mission for the Indians on the South Shore from 1728 to about 1765. The family began attending mass there then.
