Notes |
- She was adopted in Grosse Pointe Farms, Wayne, MI, US by Grandparents while still in diapers. Her and her sister Florence were adopted when their mother Lizzy came down with syphllis and went to Eloise Hospital. She was raised as the youngest daughter, younger than Grace Mabel Florence, the youngest birthdaughter of Isadore and Florence.
- She had a theatrical supply company called Peggrace (with grandma Grace Soullier) which sold stage makeup, brushes, creams, tweezers, false eyelashes, etc., plus costumes, pasties, g-strings and stockings to the showgirls who worked on Miami Beach. Grandma designed and sewed the custom costumes with sequins and embellishments (and their bras and underpants which had to be very small to fit under the show costumes) and Peg got the supplies from Mehron from NYC.
- Carmen Miranda story: Mom and Peg went to make deliveries at the Colonial Club one night in the 1940s when mom and dad lived down there. Carmen was there and had a lady assistant who was rumored it was her mother but no one knew. Carmen wanted 2 dozen false eyelashes and Peg asked why so many. Carmen told her she kept losing them.
- One night there was a bunch of female impersonators and mom went with Peggy who told her "don't be alarmed, this is an experience." One guy put lavender on his eyes and then called across to his friend "Do you like this color better?"
- After she divorced Scobey, she met Earnest who was a maitre'd in NYC. She lived in Long Branch NJ when she was married to Scobey and his parents were very rich, like millionaires now. And she also had a photography studio in Long Branch NJ. She took photos, developed them and made copies. Scobey was an alcoholic.
- Ashes went into the ocean. Grace Soullier was her sole heir.
