- James Pierre was an 1861 graduate of West Point Military Academy. He served as aide-de-camp
with General Sykes at the first battle of Bull Run and afterwards with General Rosecrans in the Army of the Cumberland. Resigned from the military 01 Feb 1865 to manage the large estate of his wife.
